About Janey
About me
With over 20 years of experience in both the Mental Health and Alcohol & Drug sectors. I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals on their healing journeys through counselling, here in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).

I have been sober now for 30 years and have lived experience with my own tapering journey. I fully understand the commitment it takes to keep taking care of your well-being, even when the path ahead is difficult or uncertain.
I bring this understanding, alongside warmth and realism into the way I work. I know it takes quiet courage to keep showing up for yourself with kindness, one day at a time.
These experiences inform my practice on a daily basis. I comprehend the complexity of addiction and mental health and am able to acknowledge the differences. And treat accordingly.
I have been in private practice for the past 7 years and I have worked with people presenting with a vast range of issues. I enjoy diversity, complexity and enjoy being able to offer a comprehensive counselling service.
My work is informed by consistent training, and I draw on holistic models like Te Whare Tapa Whā (developed by Sir Mason Durie) and evidence-based resources including the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines (Horowitz & Taylor) to support safe, person-centered care.
The 12-step recovery movement has been a touchstone for me as I continue to grow and develop my own program of wellness.
I live in a small suburb in central west Auckland, with my husband and our Tonkinese cats Harper and Luigi Morris.
